Our Story & Vision
Startersites is a small website design studio, a Level 1 BBBEE company. We came about by working with large companies and identifying that smaller startups could not afford the price tag that came with a professionally designed and developed website.
Startersites was born to meet the need to assist startups and small businesses with a quick and professional solution that saves business owners and entrepreneurs time, effort and the many costly mistakes so that they can get their business online as quickly as possible and grow their business.
Our ultimate hope is to facilitate the success of small businesses so that it leads to a positive impact and transformation of people’s lives within our society.
"For us, business is more than just about making money, it is about facilitating change. It's about bringing and giving hope and making a meaningful contribution to the upliftment of all in our society."
We want to make a bigger difference!
Creating affordable template websites to get start-up and small businesses going as quickly as possible is one thing, but the growing youth unemployment rate in South Africa is of grave concern. Making a difference in the lives of a handful of unemployed youth, via a 1-to-3 year work and mentorship program is how we have taken our business one step further.
Supported with skills development training and a watchful monitoring eye by our sister company, Startersites employs 6 – 10 recently matriculated young adults from previously disadvantaged communities within our vicinity of Cape Town per year. Those within the program learn about marketing and are taught the skills and implement their learnings to gain experience (under the guidance of mentors) on marketing methodologies, designing and building websites, to graphic design skills and other online marketing skills that enable them to further a career within marketing; fund university fees; and/or support their families.
The mentorship program, outside of skills training focuses on personal development skills training such as mindset; budgeting skills; setting and achieving goals to giving back to society; this to help our youth develop the necessary mindset and skills to break free of the oppressive systems of the past to one of freedom, upliftment and contribution.
To qualify for this program, matriculants are recommended by their respective High Schools, having displayed excellent work ethic; have consistently achieved excellent results in their subjects over the last 2 years of their school career; and have demonstrated or expressed an interest in a career within marketing. Due to personal financial constraints, these matriculates are unable to apply for tertiary education and are therefore eligible to apply, via their High Schools, for an opportunity to secure 1 in 10 positions with Startersites.
Current High Schools enrolled in the programme:
- Ocean View High School; and
- Masimumphele High School
